To meet our evolving operational needs and uphold the highest standards of safety, service, and efficiency, we are seeking a dedicated Duty Manager to join our Operations Control Centre team. This role plays a central part in coordinating day-of-operations across Dispatch, Maintenance Operations Control, Crew Scheduling, and charter activities — ensuring every flight is executed safely, on time, and with exceptional client care. Job Scope

The Duty Manager oversees the safe, efficient, and customer-focused execution of day-of Operations Coordination for Great North Airlines. They ensure coordination across Dispatch, Maintenance Operations Control, Crew Scheduling, and commercial charter activities. This role requires strong operational decision-making, client-care awareness, and financial accuracy in charter billing. The Duty Manager reports to the Director SOCC.

Job Responsibilities

  • Actively promote safety and quality within the organization by encouraging employee participation in SMS and maintaining effective communication with stakeholders
  • Comply with all SMS and safety policies, processes, and standards
  • Provide daily leadership to Flight Dispatchers, MOC, MTC Planners, and Crew Schedulers, ensuring corporate priorities and values are upheld
  • Make all "day of" Operations Coordination decisions for the airline, ensuring all commercial decisions are efficient and support the integrity of the schedule
  • Ensure effective communication between all operational branches for day-of flight operations
  • Activate alarm and implement emergency response procedures in the event of an aircraft incident or accident
  • Prepare and distribute daily operational summaries
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Crew Planning and Scheduling to review monthly crew schedules for cost efficiency and reserve coverage levels prior to release
  • Ensure all flight and inflight crew report in a timely manner
  • Support Crew Scheduling as needed, including during operational disruptions, staffing gaps, or peak operational periods
  • Plan and support commercial aspects of all charter operations, including the timely preparation of the charter briefing
  • Care for each charter client's experience by ensuring needs are met with professionalism and hospitality
  • Manage the flow of all charter expenses and fees, including but not limited to fuel costs, navigation fees, airport fees, FBO charges, hotel and transportation expenses, and commissary expenses
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Director, SOCC

Requirements

  • University degree and/or aviation college diploma
  • Three years industry related work experience
  • Supervisory and/or management experience an asset
  • Knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution/problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Strong planning, organizational and time management skills
  • High degree of diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive issues
  • Able to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment, with high tolerance for change
  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player who can work in an autonomous and/or team setting
  • Strong focus on continuous improvement and achieving objectives
  • Travel as required to support client need
  • Frequent sitting, computer monitor and keyboard use for extended periods of time
