FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mississauga, Canada — June 4, 2026 — Great North Airlines has formalized a recruitment assessment agreement with Symbiotics Ltd, a specialist aviation psychometric provider based in Fareham, United Kingdom. Under the agreement, Symbiotics will deliver psychometric and aptitude assessment services for Great North's pilot and cabin crew selection programmes, embedding the ADAPT assessment suite into the airline's hiring pipeline and anchoring selection decisions in evidence-based competency measurement aligned with ICAO and IATA pilot competency frameworks.

Partnership Overview

Under the agreement, Symbiotics will provide:

  • ADAPT psychometric and aptitude testing for Direct Entry pilot applicants
  • Cabin crew assessment for applicants to Great North's growing cabin operations
  • Competency-based reporting to support interview structure and training needs analysis, so that selection criteria reflect Great North's culture, mission focus, and operational environment

A Foundation for Safety and Fit

Great North operates CRJ-200 regional jets and DASH 8 turboprop aircraft on government, essential, emergency, ACMI, and contract charter missions across Canada, North America, and the Caribbean. Mission profiles range from First Nations community support and Arctic and High North operations, through to major hubs across Canada and the United States, and operations as far south as the equator. The operational range and complexity demand both technical aptitude and the right human factors profile in every flight deck and cabin.

ADAPT-based assessment is used by airlines, training organisations, regulators, and national aviation authorities in more than 80 countries across more than 130 locations. The system measures cognitive, behavioural, and personality dimensions mapped to the nine ICAO core pilot competencies, including leadership, teamwork, workload management, communication, situational awareness, and problem-solving.

Leadership Perspectives

"Recruitment is one of the highest-leverage decisions we make as an airline. Bringing Symbiotics' ADAPT platform into our pilot and cabin crew selection process gives our hiring managers evidence-based competency data on every applicant. It strengthens fairness, consistency, and defensibility across every hire, and it raises the standard for the quality and fit of every applicant we advance to interview."

Gabriella Marsala, Human Resources Director, Great North Airlines

"Our crews fly a wide variety of missions: First Nations community support, Arctic and High North operations, major hubs across Canada and the United States, and through the Caribbean as far south as the equator. Embedding Symbiotics' ADAPT science into selection is a direct investment in safety, in operational performance, and in the long-term success of every person we welcome aboard."

Brock Henderson, Chief Operating Officer, Great North Airlines
